"Invited by the School of Science, Professor Quansheng Liu from the University of South Brittany, France, gave an academic lecture at our school on March 23 in Room 805 of the Boyuan Building. The lecture was titled 'The Product of Random Matrices and Its Applications' for the faculty and students.

Professor Liu elaborated on the historical background, main results, and applications of the product of random matrices, starting from central theorems and limit theorems in probability theory. Additionally, he introduced France's mathematical culture, talent cultivation mechanisms, and analyzed the reasons behind France's prowess in mathematics.

Professor Liu, a distinguished professor in France, serves as the Head of the Mathematics Department at the University of South Brittany and the Deputy Director of the Atlantic Brittany Mathematics Laboratory. His research encompasses probability statistics, fractal geometry, and digital image processing. In recent years, his primary focus has been on probability statistical issues in random environments, particularly regarding large deviation theory, the product of random matrices, and mathematical physics of important stochastic environments and applied probability models such as branching processes, branching random walks, and image denoising. He has published over 100 papers in journals such as 'J. Eur. Math. Soc.,' 'Probab. Th. Rel. Fields,' 'Annals of Probability,' 'Annals of Applied Probability,' 'IEEETrans. Image Processing,' 'SIAM J. Imaging Sciences,' 'Inverse Problems and Imaging,' and 'J. Scientific Computing.'

Dean Li Huan of the School of Science introduced Professor Liu to the distinctive features of the school in the field of applied mathematics and engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Liu on talent cultivation in mathematics and statistics, as well as opportunities for research collaboration."
